Will My Contacts Save Automatically When Someone Taps My NFC Card?

Premium NFC business cards that share everything about you instantly. No app. No friction. Just tap.

This is one of the most common misconceptions about NFC business cards. Clearing it up will help you set the right expectations.

What Actually Happens When Someone Taps

When someone taps their phone against your NFC card, your profile page or Linktree opens in their browser automatically. From that page, they need to take one action to save your contact: tap the save button or vCard link on the page.

Why It Does Not Happen Automatically

Automatic contact saving without user input would be a significant privacy and security concern. Your phone does not automatically save every website you visit as a contact. The same principle applies to NFC interactions.

How to Maximise the Save Rate

Your Linktree or landing page should include a clear, prominent save contact button. Make it the first thing people see after tapping. The easier you make the save action, the higher your conversion rate from tap to saved contact.

The Comparison With Paper Cards

With a paper card, saving your contact requires the recipient to manually type your number, name, and email into their phone. Most people do not do this immediately, and many never do it at all. The NFC card makes saving dramatically easier even though it is not fully automatic.
