Premium NFC business cards that share everything about you instantly. No app. No friction. Just tap.

If you are researching NFC business cards, you may have come across references to different NFC chip types. Here is what you need to know without the technical jargon.

The Most Common Chip: NTAG213

The NTAG213 is the standard chip used in most NFC business cards, including Tappio cards. It stores enough data for a URL, which is all a business card needs. It is compatible with all NFC-enabled smartphones including iPhone and Android.

NTAG215 and NTAG216

These chips have larger storage capacity. For a business card that simply needs to store a URL, this extra capacity is unnecessary. These chips are more commonly used for access control or product authentication.

The Practical Answer

If you are buying an NFC business card from a reputable provider, the chip selection is handled for you. Tappio uses the NTAG213 chip, which is the correct choice for a business card application and is fully compatible with all modern smartphones.
