Do iPhones and Android Phones Both Support NFC Business Cards?

Compatibility is one of the most practical concerns when choosing an NFC business card. You need to know that your card will work for the people you hand it to, regardless of what phone they carry.

Android NFC Compatibility

Android phones have supported NFC for well over a decade. NFC is enabled by default on most Android devices and activates automatically when the screen is on. No settings changes, no app downloads required.

iPhone NFC Compatibility

Apple introduced NFC reading capability in the iPhone 7 in 2016. Every iPhone model from the 7 onwards supports NFC reading. On iPhone XS and later, NFC reading is automatic when the screen is on, identical to Android behaviour.

What About Older Phones?

iPhones older than the 7 do not support NFC reading. In both cases, the QR code on the back of your Tappio card provides a complete fallback. You do not need to worry about compatibility.
